Western Province Rugby Academy (WPRA)
The WPRA concept and facility was created to offer talented young rugby players the best possible opportunity to pursue a professional career in rugby union. This is achieved by integrating the experience, expertise and systems of the WP Rugby High Performance setup with the leading edge athlete development methodology provided by the GSMEG Athlete Development Centre. This whole person approach is incorporated throughout the WP Rugby Academy programme.
The WPRA programme, developed by our Director of Rugby, Anton Moolman, caters for players from under 19 to under 21 and is based within the Athlete Development Centre campus at Villagers RFC, Claremont, Cape Town, South Africa. The campus is centrally located providing the ideal location and environment for students to focus on athletic performance as well as academic and holistic development. Cape Town is a culturally diverse city surrounded by some of the World’s best beaches and lying in the shadow of the iconic Table Mountain. The WPRA truly supplies a once in a lifetime opportunity.
The WPRA is situated at the Athlete Development Centre (ADC) in centrally located Claremont, Cape Town. The ADC is dedicated to helping all aspiring athletes reach their potential through a range of services and world leading technologies.
In an often over structured approach to rugby, many players have lost the ability to see space , communicate and execute their option’s correctly. With a high emphasis being placed on the skills required, our core focus is on the correct decision making in these respective areas.
Our service offering is a complete athlete development program encompassing all aspects of conditioning, psychology and analysis of each student.
